FAQ

  • Am I eligible?

If you’re age 13-18, you’re eligible! No prior experience required.

  • Is this free?

Yes! Hack Club is a nonprofit helping teens build technical projects at no cost, and the food is on us.

  • What are the hours?

9 am to 7 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Doors open at 8:20 am for early drop off and breakfast, and you can stay 30+ minutes past 7 pm if your ride is running late. It’s not overnight, so you’ll head home Saturday night.

  • What should I bring?

A laptop and charger, headphones, a water bottle, and anything you need to be comfy. Artists and musicians, bring your tools too!

  • But I can only come for one day!

You need to be there on Sunday, since that’s when projects are submitted and demoed. As long as you’re there Sunday, you can participate, but we can’t take people who only come on Saturday.

  • Who’s organizing this?

Haven Spokane is organized by Chika Ugorji, Lyric Santana, and Lynn N., with support from Hack Club.

  • What if my parent can’t drop me off or pick me up on time?

No worries! You can stay 30+ minutes past 7 pm for a late pick up. If you need something else, let us know ahead of time and we’ll work out an arrangement with you and your family.

  • I still have questions!

Email us at spokane@haven.hackclub.com or call/text 509-850-1261! You can also chat with us in #haven-spokane on Slack.

  • Will there be adults supervising?

Yes! There will be multiple adult (18+) supervisors at the event at all times.

  • Where is it?

At Spokane Valley Tech, 115 S University Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206.

  • But I’ve never coded before!

Perfect! Game jams are designed for beginners. You’ll have workshops, mentors, and teammates to help you every step of the way.

  • Do I need a team?

Nope! Come solo and find teammates at the event, or bring your friends and jam together.

  • I need to arrive late or leave early.

Totally understandable! Whether it’s for family, work, religious reasons, or anything else, just let us know ahead of time and we’ll work out an accommodation with you.

  • I want to help out or volunteer!

We’d love your help! Email us at spokane@haven.hackclub.com and tell us a little about yourself.

  • What if my parents are concerned?
